If you’re serious about your hot dogs — and I’m talking about the heart-burn-inducing-nothing-healthy-here variety — you have to check out Hot Grill in Clifton. It’s an institution. The place has been sitting on Lexington Street right at the entrance to RT-46 since 1941 and it doesn’t look like they’ve changed their signage or decor ever since.

A girl’s gotta have her chocolate. And this weekend, it looks like I may be able to get it for free. Adorable downtown Maplewood, NJ will host its third annual Valentine’s Day Chocolate Walk on Saturday and the pickings will surely be good.

I could probably ice skate on my driveway after this last storm. But, there are better options in New Jersey for those of us who’d like to balance on metal blades in the cold. I’m not saying I’m a ice junkie or anything, but I did grow up ice skating and there’s something about sliding across the ice on a cold winter day that’s just really cool.

What would you say if I told you that you could sample a bevy of authentic Spanish Food products from an exclusive importer and distributor, purchase those products if you like, and then shop at an incredibly reasonable Asian Food store? Would I be enticing you further if I told you that you could bring your kids and expose them to these two distinct cultures with only a few minutes distance between them? Would it be the icing on the cake to tell you that you could then feast at a delicious and family friendly Vietnamese restaurant in the same plaza or a Thai one down the street? Well, this is your lucky day.

If you’ve never tried snowshoeing — the age-old sport that involves slapping tennis rackets on your feet — you should. It’s as easy as walking. It’s actually easier than walking when there’s snow on the ground. And this is coming from a truly athletically-challenged individual. Unlike skiing or ice skating, you don’t need anyone to teach you how to snowshoe. Really. If you can walk, you can snowshoe. You just snap on the shoes and go.

Winter is the best time of year for a birthday. It doesn’t get lost in the holiday craze, everyone’s got cabin fever and is looking for something to do, and you can pretty much count on the weather being what it is (freaking cold). So, in the spirit of snowy birthdays, here are a few party ideas for your little Capricorn or Aquarius.

I’ve always been a sucker for brunch. It gives the family a weekend morning excursion and no dishes! But now that you’ve got the kids out of the house and fed, what do you do with them? Here’s my plan for a trip to Summit, NJ.

Let’s face it, the first weeks of life aren’t exactly the most attractive for a baby. But kids’ photographer Ron Holtz has found a way to capture the reason why we just can’t stop gazing at those tiny little creatures, even if they are sort of funny looking.
