If you’re serious about your hot dogs — and I’m talking about the heart-burn-inducing-nothing-healthy-here variety — you have to check out Hot Grill in Clifton. It’s an institution. What would you say if I told you that you could sample a bevy of authentic Spanish Food products from an exclusive importer and distributor, purchase those products if you like, and then shop at an incredibly reasonable Asian Food store? Would I be enticing you further if I told you that you could bring your kids and expose them to these two distinct cultures with only a few minutes distance between them? Would it be the icing on the cake to tell you that you could then feast at a delicious and family friendly Vietnamese restaurant in the same plaza or a Thai one down the street? Edison, NJ didn’t have much meaning to me as a former New Yorker until I found out it was the Indian Food Shopping mecca of the universe! I so miss my East 6th street in Manhattan for all my Indian shopping needs but Edison makes me feel like I am back home, hitting the incredibly cheap food shopping and lunch and dinner spots.

We went to Chester on Sunday to check out the harvest festival and, apparently, we weren’t the only ones with that idea. I’ve never seen Chester so crowded. We actually never made it to the festival, but we did end up puttering around historic downtown Chester and even with the crowds, it was fun.

Restaurants don’t come cheap, and lately I’ve found family night at a restaurant is a rarity. But I talked to Mike Allen, a frugal dining expert, and got some awesome tips from him that I wrote about on momlogic
